there was an article in the paper today about home sales…sounds very bleak.

Unfortunately “bleak” sells papers and gets web clicks.

Austin is actually seeing slow but steady relief in regards to the percentage change year over year. Austin sales are “down” less and less each month. Here are some stats that I'm writing an article around:


Sales:

May 2007 – 2698

June 2007 – 2772

July 2007 – 2621

Compared to:

May 2008 – 2094

June 2008 – 2182

July 2008 – 2071

Percentage declines:

May-May down 22.3%

June-June down 21.3%

July-July down 20.9%
